We’re Looking for a New Home
The WCPCA is always looking for a property, or properties, that are capable of hosting our event. Minimal dimensions for the ideal property are around 600 acres, with a clear mile in at least one direction. If you own property that big, or bigger, and are interested in potentially becoming a host venue for Punkin’ Chunkin’, please let us know what terms you’d consider. Please contact us via the Feedback option here on our website.
Punkin Chunkin postponed to Nov. 6-8, 2015
Our event planned for Oct. 24-26, 2014 at Dover International Speedway, has been postponed and will be held on Nov. 6-8, 2015.
Moving an event the size of Punkin Chunkin is not easy even when time is not a factor. Both the World Championship Punkin Chunkin Association and Dover International Speedway were cautiously optimistic that the event would happen as scheduled. Ultimately, the collective decision was made to postpone the event.
Both organizations are committed to hosting the event on Dover International Speedway grounds in 2015, and with one year of lead time, we are confident we can pull off a first-class event for fans, sponsors and competitors.
Customers who purchased $10 tickets to attend the event will see the refund on their credit cards. Same applies to camping and tailgating purchases. Any questions concerning refunds can be directed to 302-857-2154.
While disappointed, both Punkin Chunkin and Dover International Speedway officials feel the decision to postpone the event until 2015, when more time allows for the opportunity to produce a better event for competitors and guests.
The World Championship Punkin Chunkin Association (WCPCA) is a trademark nonprofit that raises money for scholarships, as well as organizations that benefit youth and the local community. We host a signature pumpkin-launching event each year, fueling innovative engineering and science-based ideas that draw spectators from all over. We believe that Punkin Chunkin cultivates the odd, challenging, and competitive quest for distance that inspires creativity, ingenuity, teamwork, and passion. It is this very dedication that drives teams to compete using science and engineering skills and brings spectators to the gate which allows us to continue our never ending thirst to support our scholarship and charitable programs.
